Also, i'm not trying to suggest that this is a one to one comparison, because it's not...but, everyone really does follow their own time line. My former boss, an intelligent man by all accounts (perhaps save his choice in partners)did not actually start speaking until he was close to two years old. His parents, like you, were concerned. Everything else seemed fine. Today, he's fluent in at least six languages. More if you drop the 'fluent' part.
